30 Day Book Challenge - Day 8: Favourite Quote From A Favourite Book

Monday, 28 April 2014
So I changed this from a favourite quote from your favourite book to one from a favourite book as I wanted to use what is probably my favourite quote about reading, ever. And it's one that I have on the Quotes list on the right hand side of the blog:

So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.” Roald Dahl

I just love this so much. It totally sums up reading for me. I remember receiving my first ever library card. I would go every single weekend and it was sadly the highlight of most weeks. Reading is one of the most comforting things that you can do, escape into the world's created by authors and forget about your own problems. And your favourite book is always there no matter what like a faithful friend who will never let you down. My favourite part of the quote is: 'These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.' Amazing.
